Donald Trump's administration welcomes podcasters and multimedia creators to White House press briefings.

The Trump administration is allowing new media outlets, such as podcasters and influencers, access to the White House press briefing room. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized the importance of engaging younger people that rely on nontraditional news sources.

The Trump administration has announced a pioneering proposal to provide seats in the White House press briefing room to representatives from "new media" outlets, such as podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators. The program aims to provide representation to groups that have not previously had access to the briefing room.

A shift in media representation.
During her first daily briefing on Tuesday (January 28), White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the youngest press secretary in history at 27 years old, detailed the reasoning behind the decision.

"Millions of Americans, particularly young people, have shifted away from traditional television and newspapers to consume news through podcasts, blogs, social media, and other independent platforms," Leavitt told reporters. "It is crucial for our team to share President Trump's message widely and adapt the White House to the evolving media landscape of 2025."

The move to open the briefing room to new media is a response to the shifting methods in which Americans consume news. Leavitt emphasized the necessity of addressing younger audiences, who are increasingly turning to non-traditional sources of information.
